Just before the middle of the season, one driver became the championship favorite whereas another contender was eliminated in the Monster Energy Supercross series at Ford Field in Detroit, which begins on Saturday at 7:00 pm ET on CNBC and Supercross TV Live.
With his sixth victory at Daytona, Eli Tomac has an 18-point lead over Jason Anderson, the 2020 champion in his debut season with Yamaha seeking a second title.
The championship field narrowed this week as Honda rider Ken Roczen announced he was on leave for health reasons.
