On February 4, 2023, the Supercross 2023 season round 5 was held in Houston. Eli Tomac and Hunter Lawrence stood atop the podium in their respective main events after two thrilling races.
Eli Tomac performed almost flawlessly in Houston. Tomac took the lead in the opening laps of the 450SX main event before the race was stopped due to a red flag. He accelerated again after the restart and never lost the lead. Sexton applied pressure, but Tomac withstood it to secure a commanding victory and maintain control of the red spot for another week.

The 250SX Main Event began with a flurry of rookies at the front. Hunter Lawrence took the holeshot, but his Honda teammate Chance Hymas and KTM's Tom Vialle stayed close behind. Lawrence took the lead in the final few laps and won the first east coast race title.
