2025 San Diego Ama Supercross Injury Update: 450SX & 250SX

2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Round 2 Injury Report

 

The 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Round 2 will be held on January 18, 2025, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California. Several riders will be unable to participate in this exciting event this weekend due to injuries. Check out the list below to see who will race and who will miss the action.


450SX


Christian Craig – Knee | Out


Christian Craig is hoping to come back to racing in Tampa. During the last race of the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Craig's knee was injured, so currently he will not play in San Diego.


250SX West


Derek Drake – Illness | Out


Derek Drake will be out for at least the beginning of the season as he battles Lyme disease.


Evan Ferry – Achilles | Out


Evan Ferry will miss the entire season after tearing his Achilles tendon during his heat race at Anaheim 1, following a jump landing.


Derek Kelley – Banged Up | TBD


Derek Kelley had a big crash during practice at Anaheim, which caused a red flag. He’s okay but very sore. He’s aiming to be ready for the race in San Diego.

 

Robbie Wageman – Wrist | Out


Robbie Wageman broke and dislocated his wrist while practicing. He might return later in the season, but for now, Derek Kelley is taking his place.

 

250SX East


The 250SX East Region starts on February 8 in Tampa, Florida.

 
Casey Cochran – Leg


Cochran hurt his leg in November and needed surgery. He’s now recovering and working to get back on track. 


RJ Hampshire – Wrist


This year, Hampshire will not be a part of the San Diego Supercross Round 2, because his wrist was injured before the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship opening round. He will be ready when the 250SX East Region starts. 

 

Levi Kitchen – Illness


Kitchen was originally slated to race in the 250SX West Region but fell ill just before last weekend's opening race. He is on track to recover and plans to be ready for the 250SX East Region.


Keegan Rowley – Wrist

 

Rowley, who rides for TiLube Honda, hurt his wrist and will probably miss the entire supercross season. He shared this update on Instagram.

 
Devin Simonson – Wrist


Simonson injured his wrist just before Christmas and needed surgery. He’ll likely miss the early part of the 250SX East Region. Australian rider Reid Taylor will take his place.


Jalek Swoll – Achilles


Swoll won't be racing in supercross because he hurt his Achilles before the A1 event.
